Rural Municipality of Britannia Councils

This photograph, taken Tuesday, January 12, 1954, shows a changing of the guard on the R. M. Council.  Archie Nelson was defeated by Joe Carmody in the fall election and several other changes to council took place.  This occasion was the presentation to Mr. Nelson of a wrist watch to commemorate his 25 years as Reeve of the R. M.

The Lloydminster Times identifies those pictured as follows:

(l-r, back row) Councilors E. T. Holman, Ray Pollard, and S. M. MacKenzie; E. A. Henning, Secretary-Treasurer; Mr. E. Babey and son, Ex-Councilor Norman Babey.

(l-r, middle row) Ex-Councilor F. Priest; Councilor P. Olsen; [Lloydminster] Mayor V. U. Miner; Reeve Joe P. Carmody; Mr. J. A. McLean, President of the Lloydminster Board of Trade; Councilor Guy Powers; George F. Baynton, Editor of the Lloydminster Times.

l-r, front row) Ex-Councilors S. P. Chambers and C. Conway, Ex-Reeve A. A. Nelson, and Ex-Councilors W. C. Clark, G. O. Chambers and V. C. Foster.
