CHRIS McGREGOR

Chris is the son of Pauline & Hugh McGregor and the Grandson of Evelyn & Paul Churchward.  Prior to moving to Calgary he attended Grade 2 in Lloydminster when the family returned from the Middle East.

Since the age of 16 he has pursued his dream of becoming a successful Jockey.  He has twice been nominated for Canada’s Sovereign Award, the highest award in Canadian Racing.  In 1990 with 229 wins and in 1992 with 204 wins he was Canada’s leading jockey.  He now has over 2000 lifetime wins.

An inspiration to young and old, Chris made a remarkable athletic comeback after a brush with death and paralysis in October 1991.  He has overcome insurmountable odds and debilitating injuries to reach the top of the Alberta and Canadian Jockey standings.  The Calgary Booster Club honoured him in 1993 as an Honoured Athlete.  He has proven to himself and others that with dedication, determination, clean living and hard work that you can succeed and realize your dreams.
