George Flamank

George Flamank originally accompanied the Barr Colonists as Secretary to Isaac Barr but survived the leadership change and emerged as one of Rev. Lloyd's Committee of 12 and the first Post Master of Lloydminster.

It is understood that due to the difficult economic situation in Stafford during the early 1900's, the Boer War had come to an end and troops returning from high adventure to  hum drum life were discontented.  Jobs were few and hard to find. George FLAMANK, wife Catherine and now three sons must have found it so as, for better or for worse they joined up with some 2,684 other men, women & children on board the S.S. Lake Manitoba  and set sail from Liverpool on 31 March 1903.  This group of Colonists were later to be known as the "Barr Colonists".  This ship-load of emigrants to Canada made up the second largest group of emigrants ever to arrive on the North American continent.  This cargo of humanity arrived at St. John, New Brunswick, Canada on 10 April 1903.  Five train loads, despite utter chaos eventually left St John arriving, on the 17 April, at what is now known as Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  On the 15 May 1903 with the colonists resting at Battleford, Saskatchewan, due to exorbitant profiteering on the part of Reverend Isaac M. Barr, he was deposed and the Reverend George Exton Lloyd appointed in his stead.  Despite the numerous obstacles placed before this group of new immigrants, the town and later City of Lloydminster, named after Reverend Lloyd became established.  George FLAMANK became the first Postmaster for Lloydminster.
