ELIZABETH PENNY


Elizabeth Penny was born in Lloydminster and grew up in Marshall district, attending school there.  Interested in sketching and drawing from an early age. she was introduced to the Lloydminster Art Club by Solvieg Jeffrey.  Instructional classes were provided by the Extension Department of the University of Alberta and taught by Professor Harry Wolfarth and Mr. Lindsay Evans.

Additional art courses were taken at the Summer School of Arts at Fort San., Fort Qu'Appelle, as well as a number of outdoor workshops in various locations around Alberta.  The latter were sponsored by the Extension Department, University of Alberta.

Through Lakeland College. Elizabeth taught a series of classes at Paradise Valley and Marwayne in Alberta, and Lashburn in Saskatchewan.  She has also instructed classes for the Art Council of Lloydminster.

Elizabeth's work has gained recognition in both Saskatchewan and Alberta. For several years her work was shown at the Watrous Art Salon, sponsored by the Saskatchewan Arts Board.  Her paintings were hung in the Judges Selection of the Red Deer Provincial Show.  In addition, she has also received a number of Purchase awards.

Elizabeth still does some sketching and drawing and also enjoys meetin9 with a group of painters at the Legacy Center in Lloydminster.
