Ronald Mark Long entered this world on March 28, 1972,third child of
Leonard and Eveleen Long (nee Mann). Ron grew up happily on a farm near the little
village of Furness just south of Lloydminster. His two siblings, Dorothy and
Alan and his pet dog Brady kept life interesting on the farm. In fact, while
most farm children took their heifers to 4H, Ron took Brady.
To attend school Ron took the bus into Lloydminster. There he enjoyed band, choir
and most other subjects. His after-school activities included camping with Boy
(Scouts, singing with the Agape Youth Choir of the Anglican Church, and taking
piano lessons with Avis Jensen.
With the local musical theatre group Ron performed in Two by Two as
Japheth, the "angry" son of Noah. He was also cast as the
two-faced lawyer in No, No, Nanette,
and more recently played the shallow teacher, Mr. Philips; in Anne
of Green Gables(He
hopes he hasn't been typecast!)
University life appealed to Ron so he left for Saskatoon. There he earned a
degree Bachelor of music in Voice Performance. While in Saskatoon he perferred
With Co-opera in several Mozart operas, and with the Saskatoon Opera Association
in a (production of lolanthe.
After finishing his degree Ron headed homeward where he helped organize two fringe
Festivals, acting as director of the second annual Fringe Festival. Ron also
taught voice lessons privately in North Battleford, Unity, Lloydminster and at
Lakeland College. In 1997, he won second overall in the Saskatchewan Music
Festival Competition held in Saskatoon.
Ron was last seen headed southward where he is studying for a Master's Degree
in Opera and Music Theatre in Carbondale, Illinois.
