Born in 1938 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Bill Kondro took his
elementary and High School education in Lloydminster, Alberta.
In 1962 he received his Pharmacy Degree from the University of
Saskatchewan. Between the years 1962 and 1987, Bill owned and operated a
Pharmacy in Lloydminster. After
selling the business to Shopper's Drug Mart he has continued as a part-time
pharmacist, working locally.
Bill's interest in Civic affairs led him
to the office of Mayor of the City of Lloydminster from 1982 to 1987.
In 1991 he was successful in his bid for Alderman, serving in that
capacity from 1991 to 1994. Among other accomplishments Bill has served as Manager,
Lloydminster Region Community Future Development Corporation, since 1987;
part-time Panel Member, Alberta Labour Relations 1988 to the present; and in
1997, was appointed to the Board of Governors at Lakeland College.
As a sport enthusiast, Bill has contributed both in the past and present
to the sporting community of Lloydminster, acting as past Chairman of the
fundraising and Construction Committee for Communiplex and Russ Robertson Arena
(Lloydminster) 1973 - 1978, and as past director in both Junior A and Minor
Hockey. Bill has also served in the
community as a past member of both the Lloydminster Public Library Board and the
Dr. Cooke Extended Care & Auxiliary Hospital.
Bill's commitment to community service is evident in his current activities
which include: member of Lloydminster Rotary Club; member of K-40 Club;
Chairman, Alberta Jr. A Hockey League; Chairman, Border City Rodeo Association:
Chairman, Barr Colony Museum Committee; member of the Local Lakeland College
Advisory Committee; chairman, Lloydminster Medical Recruitment Committee;
Director, Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce.
Bill and his wife, Ruth, reside in Lloydminster.
Their family includes three grown children, two sons and one daughter.
