John Eagle was born in Lloydminster in 1975. At the age of eight
he joined the Lloydminster Aquanauts Summer Swim Club. Practices at that
time were held at the only aquatic facility in Lloydminster - the Outdoor Pool.
John qualified for Provincials that year in individual events and also in the
relay team. That year four Lloydminster boys broke the provincial relay record
and brought home gold medals in both the free and medley relays. John qualified
for provincials every year after that in both individual events and also in
relays. He received numerous aggregate awards at various club/regional/provincial swim meets. He remained a member of the Lloydminster
Aquanauts until he was sixteen.
This early interest in swimming led John to take various lifeguarding and coaching courses and he became a qualified lifeguard. John returned to competitive swimming in 1996 and at that time earned a provincial silver medal in breaststroke. In 1997 he had the pleasure of co-coaching the Lloydminster Aquanauts and he also swam competitively.
